\n \nO ctober 2026 series — Thursdays\, 10am-12pm PT / 11 am-1pm MT / 12-2pm CT / 1-3pm ET on the following dates (2-hour sessions each):

\n \nDescription:
\n \nIn this 3-session wor kshop\, we’ll explore how to create a budget\, how to use a budget as a guide throughout the year\, and how to plan for savings and reserves in servic e of your group’s goals. We’ll also cover methods of comparing plans to reality as you go\, and adju sting when things don’t go according to plan.
\ n \nThis workshop is a mix of both process and technical pieces. We’ll share frameworks for the who\, what\, when and how of group involvement in the budgeting process as well as some of the mecha nics of calculation for Budgets\, Budgets versus A ctuals\, and Cash Flow Projections\, including spr eadsheet templates with formulas and options for f ormat and organization. We’ll build skills and con fidence for directing resources with greater clari ty and intention together.
\n \nBuilding Shared Futures is designed wit h the expectation that participants are already so mewhat familiar with the main purposes and basic c ontent of four financial reports–Profit & Loss\, B alance Sheet\, Budget\, and Cash Flow Projections– and with core financial terms such as income\, exp ense\, equity\, asset\, liability\, accounts payab le and receivable. For grounding in this material\ , we recommend first attending the Cosmos Financial Foundations workshop s eries before taking this workshop.
\n \nThis series will be most applicable for those who have a financial role in their organization (for example: Member of finance committee\, Treasurer\, Finance Director/Manager/Coordinator\, Program or Operations Manager/Director/Coordinator\, Co-/Exe cutive Director\, coop member\, and others who sig nificantly interact with budgeting\, as well as pe ople interested in skilling up for such roles.
\n \nLearning is applicable to cooperatives\, businesses\, nonprofits\, and other groups who bud get. The focus is on group finances\, but individu als and sole proprietors may find some parts appli cable too.

\n \nRefund requests acce pted up to 1 day before the start of the first ses sion with a 5% payment processing fee. Requests r eceived after this time can get a transfer to a fu ture date of the same event.
